Save-the-date: Technology Infrastructures in European Innovation Ecosystems

Technology infrastructures are essential to test, demonstrate and upscale new technologies for further use. They are well-positioned for the co-creation of innovations by public users such as research and technology organisations, as well as universities, public authorities and private users including SMEs. They are varied in their implementation and have a very diverse user community.

The sharing of those facilities has many benefits. Operating a shared facility lowers the financial risk of developing new technologies and allows for structural collaboration between the sharing partners.

As part of the new European Research Area (ERA), the Commission is currently developing the “European Strategy for Technology Infrastructures”. The urgency on this topic is high as TIs are essential in facilitating the twin transition and fostering the strategic open autonomy the European Commission is striving for.

This webinar aims to discuss the best way forward on the road to creating this European Strategy on Technology Infrastructures and how we can co-create such a strategy. This will include questions like:

  • What is the role of technology infrastructures in regional innovation ecosystems?
  • Which support do technology infrastructures require of joint European action?
  • How to facilitate cross-border access to technology infrastructures?
  • How can technology infrastructures address social adaptation to the green and digital transitions?
  • Which aspects/elements of the Technology Infrastructures should be absolutely considered when setting up the strategy?
