Neth-ER Digital Publication: United Through Knowledge

Knowledge is Europe's Strongest Strategic Asset

Knowledge is the European Union’s strongest strategic asset and the foundation for addressing today’s complex challenges. United Through Knowledge conveys a simple but powerful truth. Many of today’s challenges cannot be addressed by individual Member States acting alone. From climate change and the energy transition to an aging population and infectious diseases, progress depends on collaboration and long-term investment in knowledge, education, research and innovation. By working together and forging strong partnerships, Europe can push the frontiers of knowledge. Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ play a pivotal role in not only tackling these challenges, but also seizing opportunities, both known and yet to be discovered.

A timely publication

United Through Knowledge is a timely publication, as the successors of the current Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ programmes begin to take shape amid ongoing negotiations in both the European Parliament and the Council. It’s a showcase of what can be achieved in partnership, and a call to action for increased cooperation and investment on a European level. During Neth-ER Annual Network Conference, “Double Knowledge”, Neth-ER President Robert-Jan Smits presented the first physical copy to René Repasi, Member of European Parliament and rapporteur on the next Framework Programme. In response to the European Commission’s proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Frame, Neth-ER has also published concrete recommendations for Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, developed in close collaboration with the Dutch knowledge sector.
