CIP

The CIP programme runs from 2007 to 2013 with a budget of €3.621 million. The programme is divided into three operational programmes:

• Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP);
• Information Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT-PSP);
• Intelligent Energy Europe Programme (IEE).

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP) supports innovation in SMEs in the European Union with a focus on:

• access to finance;
• business services: the Enterprise Europe Network;
• support for improving innovation policy;
• eco-innovation;
• the support policy for innovation and SMEs through contracts and grants.

The information Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP) aims at stimulating a wider uptake of innovative ICT based services. The financial support goes mainly to pilot actions involving both public and private organisations. This involves areas such as:

• ICT for health, aging and inclusion;
• Digital databases;
• ICT for improved public services;
• ICT for energy efficient and smarter mobility;
• Multilingual web and Internet evolution.

The Intelligent Energy Europe Programme (IEE) supports with a budget of €730 million concrete projects; initiatives and best practices. Each year, specific calls for proposals are launched. Examples of funded projects include:

• training for new construction techniques that lead to energy savings;
• improve the effectiveness of support schemes for electricity produced from renewable energy sources throughout Europe;
• helping European cities to develop more energy-efficient and cleaner transport.
